Black Box or: Battle of the BastardsGame: Black Box Where: Auberge 't Oude Tolhuys, Utrecht, The Netherlands When: Saturday the 5th of July 2008 What: Modern Age Jetset tryout (Dress code: white tie, black tie and cocktail) Who: Evolution Events, a small Dutch larping foundation Background: the first in a series of one-shots that we want to do in the years to come, mainly aimed at exploring various experimental concepts and methods. Players took the roles of members, guests and participants of a secret rich people's club where dirt-poor participants are invited to play Russian Roulette for the chance to win a great deal of money (Similar idea to the movie "Live!", which came out last year as a mockumentary). As the evening progressed the rounds got more and more dangerous, and there were several goings on amongst the rich people, too. The authorities caught wind of their depraved games and placed no less then three moles in amongst their members of guests. Up to those present to figure out who... X-posted in my own LJ as well

Black Box and D&D silly me.. :) when the black box website came online and i recieved my invite for it, i doubted that it would be something for me.. i mean, a whole evening filled with a murder mystery sounds cool, but the high socyity stuck up headline was bothering me. so when i first saw it i was like nuh-uh.. not going there. But when jwk sayd he didn't really wanted to go either, but that he needed to becouse he's crew.. we've started thinking about playing together. It took us 1,5 day to round up two complete charaktersheets wíth backgrounds once we had started... and the thought of finally getting to wear a pretty dress sounded as music in my ears. so, friday after work i took the train to rotterdam and spend the night in capelle once more, after food and wow we went to bed looking forward to the next evening. we started prepping 'round 4-ish after 'dinner' (i never call soup dinner) and got dressed and stuff (took me half an hour just for the hairdo) and drove off around half past 5, arivng around 6 (way to early) good thing i had put on some normal clothes and hid my dress inside it.. it made waiting a lot easier. around half past 6 the first guests started arriving and a little after that the crew arrived. we went ic half an hour late i believe. Black box was fun, allthough i had higher expectations of it.. and as always, players will be players so sometimes the game was a little slow. first 'kill' of the evening was a member of the a.i.v.d (dutch fbi) and she was shot by Ruby (the wife of the most importaint man present, played by Olga ) cousing a wave of shocked faces. during the russian roulette (what is a bunch of high socyity stuck up basterds without russian roulette) three people where killed (part of the game) and the popular actor Maikal (chris_uriel) was killed by felix (the highest basterd and hubby of Ruby, played by Jan). felix was going mental, waved around with guns and threatend 'Alex' Mendelaer (yedda), which coused a rouse.. not that any off the players activly did something about it.. lol when the roulette was over most of the players walked out as fást as they could... and in the end rene's char was shot and so was Joost's. the whole of murder mystery succseeded very well, hardly anyone knew who really was our intruder, which was of course perfect. but i didn't like the high socyity much.. yess i got to look pretty but i simply am not good at being stuck up.. and most of th people where. it was a good evening, but i was slightly dissapointed. ah well.. at least i got a pretty pic :D ik en richard na tijd uit ah well :)
on to the next subject.. D&D
richard and i spend the night in his brothers studentflat in Utrecht, and had marlies over around 10 in the morning, packed up and left for zwolle right on time.
we setteled in casa Boeve, and waited for Niles en Karin to get there as well.
D&D was fun, allthough my charaktersheet was not raelly up to date at some stuff (we found out halfway thorugh the game).. i havn't pleyed d&d that long yet and i don't really know what goes where and so.. so next time i will get help with leveling and updating my sheet.. i wasn't doing half the dmg i should because my weapons wern't up to scratch.. no wonder i get hurt so easy.
bu we've went on with our assingment, killing buckbears.. it was fun.. nearly got our 'great and fearless' leader (niels) killed TWICE because he needed to be heroic. went into combat with an 'undead' buckbear leader (one we had killed before) and got away pretty oke. we've allso had to 'welcome' a new member to our party.. meaning a small snowleopard cub ' found' by Limeara (marlies).. it clutches it's nails in anything it get's (it kinda has a thing for legs) and is bothering my wolf Nehmya (prenounce as nemia) by simply being there (it's jelous)..
ah well, we found an enormous amount of money with the last 'boss', so next time we'll split the loot. at least we probably went up in lvl again, meaning the party is now lvl 6.. it should get interesting from now on.

Hairdresser Phobia ARGH!!! I got my hair cut. Gods. It feels weird. No it's not too short, but a whopping 10cm had to be chopped for it to remain remotely healthy and I'm already missing the bump into my lower spine as I walk. It feels too airy round there and I reach back, only to find that for the first time in a year, there's NO HAIR THERE!! I had hair growing and growing and it finally reached my waist after a long haul of just avoiding the hairdressers for a couple of years. But this resulted in a shitload of splitends and dead hair and I just had to suck it in, bite my lip, and walk into that place of doom to have it meddled with. I treasure my hair. Call me vain, but it's one of my features I am pretty much happy with and wouldn't normally want to change. Hairdyes react well with it. It's long, thick (but not too much so) and can be worked into all sorts of styles. But 5 years of growing it from the little bob round the ears and only once having a couple of cm's chopped ONCE two years ago has led it to become rather damaged. So it got chopped. Majorely. *weeps* Now I need to work back that length and make sure it hits the waist and beyond without getting so damaged this time around. I mean, other girls can do it, why not I? And no, this LARP phrase from a song set to the 'Mexican Hat Dance' theme does NOT refer to me. I should never have trusted me mother, when she warned me about LARP. For though it may not suit another, it really is perfect for me!
I don't wear my kit out of season, I don't have an IC affair. My character isn't the reason, I don't want to cut off my hair.Packing this weekend and checking the guest list for the party. Not many shall be showing up so far, but that's ok I guess. Will be cosier :). Current Mood: crazy |

mirror, mirror on the wall... so, it comes to my attention that we haven't had an art discussion in ages. as such, I would like to know what secrets of the art side of things are y'all curious about? do you want to know...
what we look for in a portfolio? what decisions go into the design of a book? what does an art director do? who does what on the art team?
just add your questions in the comments and I will answer them as best I can on Fridays. I may even pull in a surprise guest here and there.

Chambers of Love: The State of Creation Edition So, as Eddy mentioned in the Monday Meeting post, I was in Columbus, OH this past week for Origins. Much fun was had, and I got to meet and talk Exalted and Scion with a lot of fans and freelancers. I took the opportunity to give people an overview of where the books they’re looking forward to are in the publishing process and a bit more about what’s going to be in The Manual of Exalted Power—The Infernals due out in 2009. So, first off, The Roll of Glorious Divinity II is at the printers, and the logo is, in fact, spelled correctly. Brian got a printer proof Monday, and everything looks good. The Compass of Terrestrial Directions—The East is being proofed internally at White Wolf right now, and it should be heading to the printer too before the July 4th holiday. We’re waiting for a bit of the final art to come in on Scion: Ragnarök, and then, it too will be headed into layout. Another Scion Companion installment will be available soon as well, chock full of new crunchy bits for players. Graceful Wicked Masques—The Fair Folk will be out of development and into editing this week, and then I’ll be diving straight into the Scroll of Fallen Races. Initial drafts are coming in for The Compass of Terrestrial Directions—The South, and they are being redlined by Dean Shomshak, who’s co-developing that book with me. In addition to the aforementioned East layout, Brian Glass is working on an as of yet top-secret assignment that will be revealed to you guys and gals soon. And then, there’s the next fatsplat currently being written for Exalted, namely The Manual of Exalted Power—The Infernals. Since I dished some Infernals info at Origins, I figured I’d give you folk the lowdown as well. It’s a standard Exalt-type fatsplat, with full rules for playing the Green Sun Princes. Michael Goodwin’s Charm set ideas are great, and I can’t wait to see his draft. The book also devotes a chapter to the akuma, focusing on how these fallen Chosen differ from the Green Sun Princes and also on how they operate in Creation. There is also a full chapter devoted to Helltech, which I can’t go into much detail on, but am really excited about. Well, that’s what’s going on now with my two games. I’ll be back with a similar “State of Creation” entry in a few months, and a new Chambers of Love in two weeks. Have a great Independence Day holiday, my fellow Americans, and everyone else enjoy a terrific weekend. |

LP in LA I'm in LA this week staying with my good friend/drinking buddy Michael Hussar. I can't wait to move out here. I've met and shot some beautiful, amazing girls and made some great new friends this past week... Sarah Eudy is now Black Metal and Fox is now Sarah and she became an official model on DN today. Some of you might know her as "the young asian girl" that was in my apartment a few weeks ago. She and her friend "Killer" came over and hung out at Michael's last night and somewhere between jager shots, naked cartwheels, and a collision with a tree we managed to shoot few pretty photos: She's the hottest lady boy west of the Mekong... Photos of mouth to mouth maple syrup swapping and other unlady-like behavior on the way soon... |
